The Gardens

The new wing of Midvalley Megamall, called The Gardens (why plural?) held its soft opening last weekend. So, being the sibuk people that we were, we decided to go join the crowd to find out what the fuss was all about.

The new building comprised of the mall along with a highrise apartment block that wasn't yet completed.

Apparently, the apartments have been completely 100% taken up. That's like 2 gazillion units filled with people who will choke the already congested Midvalley traffic by next year.....

The interior of the new mall was pretty impressive, with large sail-like columns that line the outer glass walls to provide some shade during the bright and sunny afternoons. You knowlah, us Asians cannot tolerate the sun one.....

I like it that the ID people thought up comfy cushioned couches and placed them in strategic places along the walkways for the poor tired shoppers, especially the husbands who can't keep up with their wives.

Lots of high-end brands have set up shop here sporting eye-catching storefronts as well.

Considering it was only 11.00AM when we arrived, the place had a pretty good crowd going.... but mostly were curious shoppers from the nearby Midvalley old wing.

According to my buddy, this is Dockers' largest retail outlet in Malaysia housing their largest and most contemporary collection of apparel. Went in.... Tried on a few shirts....Ok onlylah.....

Hmm.... I didn't know my good friend Mook had opened for business here....Wonder what's he selling.....

This is the logo of the Gardens and there we were happily posing and snapping away in front of this billboard when suddenly we were told brusquely by the security guard to stop taking pictures. Cheh! So action one!

So we decided to hop back over to the 'friendlier' old wing where they had set up the Raya display in the Centre Court.

No, this isn't an actual Malay kampung house but a styrofoam cutout of one. Doesn't it look good and convincingly real?

The design of the decoration incorporated Islamic Moorish influences into traditional Malay architecture to come with quite a tasteful photo-op set-up.

The level of detail and the intricacy of the floral design is very impressive. I love the colour scheme as well. Soothing to the eye and not too gaudy.

Even though it's been there for ages, this was the first time I actually really looked at this advert display for the pet shop just above the Centre Court. So cute!!!

Eh, siapa mamat ni?
